On January 22, 2019, researchers of the Institute of Information Technologies and Learning Tools of NAES of Ukraine participated in the International Workshop “Introduction to Computational Thinking” with participation of Joseph Kush, Professor at the Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA). The organizers of the event were the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and the Fulbright Program Office in Ukraine.
Professor Joseph Kush is one of the leading contemporary American experts in the field of psychological support for teaching and learning. As a Winner of the Fulbright Program, he works and conducts research in Ukraine in the 2018-2019 academic year.
Joseph Kush has acquainted the participants with the methods of computational thinking. This is a new concept that is actively being developed in contemporary American pedagogy and psychology. In particular, the emphasis is placed on the importance of forming in the younger generation the skills of analytical thinking, constructing algorithms for solving educational andeveryday tasks, programming, etc.
The seminar contained both a theoretical presentation and practical exercises that contributed to lively discussion, allowed the participants to practice in the construction of algorithms, the creation of simple codes, and left a vivid pleasant impression.
