In May 2025, Ukraine launched the international project REBUILD (Renewable Energy for Bolstering Ukraine’s Infrastructure by Learning and Design) aimed at promoting STEM education and renewable energy. The project is implemented within the IMPRESS-U program under STCU Contract No. 7135 and funded by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (US NAS).
The project brings together teams from three countries:
- USA – Institute for Future Intelligence (Natick, MA);
- Lithuania – Kaunas University of Technology;
- Ukraine – coordinator: Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as partner institutions: the Institute of Digitalization of Education of the NAES of Ukraine, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, H.E. Pukhov Institute for Modelling in Energy Engineering of the NAS of Ukraine, Sumy State University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky, Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, and Vinnytsia Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi State Pedagogical University.

First Round Table (July 3, 2025)
The meeting included a presentation of the project and an introduction to the Ukrainian team. The participants discussed the following:
- the vision for project implementation for 2025–2027;
- the activity plan for the first six months.
Second Round Table (November 18, 2025)
Participants met the American project team (led by Charles Xie) and discussed cooperation in STEM education. Representatives from pedagogical universities – South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky, Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, and Vinnytsia Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi State Pedagogical University – shared their experience in training future teachers and collaborating with schools.
The practical session included:
- a demonstration of the Aladdin online design tool for modeling building projects with thermal modernization and solar panel installation options;
- a discussion of the plan for student mini-projects.
The round table was moderated by representatives of the Institute of Digitalization of Education of the NAES of Ukraine.
Third Round Table (November 25, 2025)
Students and lecturers from the participating pedagogical universities were invited to the event. More than 50 people participated. The program included:
- presentation of the REBUILD project (Anna Yatsyshyn);
- demonstration of Aladdin’s capabilities (Oleh Lysak);
- presentation of a sample mini-project on thermal modernization and solar panel installation;
- discussion of the stages of student work.
Participants were able to ask questions and receive consultations regarding the use of Aladdin.
