On November 15, 2025, Wikimedia Ukraine, in cooperation with the State University “Kyiv Aviation Institute” and the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, held the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference “Wikipedia and Wikiprojects in the Focus of Research”. The event brought together Ukrainian and international researchers, digital technology specialists, teachers, and representatives of the academic and Wikimedia communities. The conference program covered key areas of modern research dedicated to Wikiprojects: content analysis methods, the use of artificial intelligence in detecting vandalism, gender and geospatial factors in the development of language sections, problems of reliability and verification of information, the use of Wikitechnologies in the formation of academic integrity and the development of critical thinking. Considerable attention was also paid to the interaction of the Wikicommunity with educational and cultural institutions, including archives, museums, and higher education institutions.
The Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine was presented by Olga Pinchuk, Deputy Director, and Yulia Rogushyna, Leading Researcher. They delivered a report “Features of Creating the Ukrainian Electronic Encyclopedia of Education Using the Semantic Extension of MediaWiki”. The report highlighted the technological and methodological principles of developing the Ukrainian Electronic Encyclopedia of Education (UEEE), including the use of MediaWiki’s semantic capabilities to structure and accumulate knowledge, provide cross-article navigation, and support machine interpretation of data. The presented results reflect the Institute’s strategic work in the field of scientifically based digitalization of education and the development of national information resources.
