Teacher’s Digital Competence 2025: Shaping the Future of Education

On March 18, the Institute of Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational of Ukraine hosted the II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Teacher’s Digital Competence 2025: Shaping the Future of Education”, dedicated to the use of digital technologies in education. The event was co-organized by the Ivan Zyazyun Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education of the NAES of Ukraine, the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the State National University “Institute for Modernization of Educational Content”, Grigoriy Skovoroda University in Pereyaslav, Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey, Erzurum Technical University, Erzurum, Turkey, Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Sustainable Technologies, Radom, Poland, Piotrków University, Institute of Pedagogy, Piotrków-Trybunalski, Poland, and the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź, Poland.

The main areas of work of the conference were:

  • Safety of the use of digital tools in school education.
  • Scientific and methodological approaches to the development of digital competence.
  • Digital educational content for the implementation of didactic objectives of subject areas.
  • Didactic aspects of the use of digital learning tools in school education during wartime.
  • The use of virtual/augmented reality and artificial intelligence for the development of digital competence.
  • Digital communication in educational institutions.
  • Digital educational environment of the new Ukrainian school in wartime.
  • Information and communication technologies in professional education and teacher development.
  • Pedagogical innovations: modern educational practices in Ukraine and abroad.
  • Teacher professional development in the context of digital transformation

As Academician O. Spirin, Director of the IDE of the NAES of Ukraine, noted: “Digital skills are more important today than ever. And teachers are the ones who implement real changes. In Ukraine, digital tools have become the main ones for supporting education during the war.”

Academician L. Lukʼyanova, Director of the IPOED of the NAES of Ukraine, emphasized the importance of using new digital tools in education, in particular, artificial intelligence in adult education.

Academician O. Lyashenko, Scientific Secretary of the Department of General Secondary Education and Digitalisation of Educational Systems of the National Academy of Educational of Ukraine, emphasised the role of digital pedagogy as a direction in pedagogical science.

Representatives of the scientific community of Polish educators, in particular, Dr. K. Symela, J. Religa, in their speeches highlighted the role of the teacher in the context of digital transformation.

Turkish university lecturers E.Kuchukali and B.Kafter shared their experience in forming digital literacy of students and teachers.

Lecturers and students of the Institute of Pedagogy of the Piotrkowska Academy, Poland, spoke about the use of digital technologies in primary education.

The conference brought together about 130 participants from Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Italy and other countries, including teachers, scientists, postgraduate students, doctoral students, and representatives of the public sector.

The conference materials will be published in a collection and posted on the conference website and in the electronic library of the NAES of Ukraine.
