On October 17, 2024, Maria Shyshkina presented a report at the Presidium of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine titled “On the Progress and Results of the Research on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Secondary Education by the Institute of Digitalization of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.”
The report highlighted the progress and results of research on the use of artificial intelligence in secondary education, conducted by the Institute within two research projects: “Design and Use of an Open Educational Environment with Elements of Artificial Intelligence for Professional Development of Teaching Staff,” DR 0124U000671 (2024-2025), applied research, led by M.P. Shyshkina, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Research Fellow and “Use of Artificial Intelligence Services by Teachers in Teaching Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Secondary Education Institutions,” DR 0124U001462 (2024), applied scientific research to support young scientists working or studying in institutions under the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, led by V.V. Kovalenko, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences.
The Presidium approved the progress and results of these scientific studies. The members of the Presidium noted that several issues related to the methodology and scientific-methodological support for the use of AI in secondary education remain unresolved and require further research. Notably, there is a need for studies focused on exploring the didactic potential of artificial intelligence, properly defining its functions and role in the educational process, and modernizing teaching methods for specific subjects through the use of AI. Further research is also needed on the use of AI in teacher training and professional development, as well as on the ethical use of AI in education and scientific research.
