III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Teacher Digital Competence 2026: Strategies and Practices of Teaching with Artificial Intelligence”

On March 31, the III International Scientific and Practical Conference “Teacher Digital Competence 2026: Strategies and Practices of Teaching with Artificial Intelligence” was held at the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. Speeches and discussions focused on the following areas: the use of AI in the practical work of teachers and students; training of students of pedagogical specialties in higher education institutions and their use of AI; safety of using digital AI tools in school education; scientific and methodological approaches to developing digital competence and literacy based on AI; pedagogical innovations and AI; integration of AI tools into educational scientific research; internationalisation and digitalisation of higher education institutions; use of VR/AR and artificial intelligence for the development of digital competence; modern educational practices the use of AI in Ukraine and abroad.

Academician Oleg Spirin, Director of the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the NAES of Ukraine, along with Academician Larisa Lukiyanova, Director of the Ivan Ziaziun Institute of Pedagogical and Adult Education at the NAES of Ukraine, and Academician Oleksandr Lyashenko, Academician-Secretary of the Department of General Secondary Education and Digitalisation of Educational Systems at the NAES of Ukraine, welcomed the conference participants.

They were joined by Serhiy Londar, Doctor of Economics and First Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Institute of Educational Analytics, and Dorota Yanulaytis, Doctor of Philosophy and Director of the Institute of Pedagogy at Piotrkow Academy, alongside Olga Zametska-Zalas, Deputy Director of the Institute of Pedagogy at the same academy in Piotrkow Trybunalski, Poland. Also addressing the attendees was Vitaliy Kotsur, Professor and Rector of Grygoriy Skovoroda University in Pereyaslav.

The director of the Institute for Digitalisation of Education, Oleg Spirin, stated, “Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant prospect; it is actively transforming teaching methods, the learning environment, and the role of the teacher. As a result, the concept of digital competence extends beyond just technical skills. It now encompasses critical thinking, ethical awareness, digital resilience, and the ability to integrate artificial intelligence tools into pedagogy effectively.”

The conference brought together more than 130 participants from Ukraine, Poland, Turkey and other countries, including teachers, scientists, postgraduate students, and doctoral students.

The conference was co-organised by Ivan Ziaziun Institute of Pedagogical and Adult Education of the NAES of Ukraine, the Institute of Pedagogy of the NAES, the Institute of Educational Analytics, Grygoriy Skovoroda University in Pereyaslav, Dokuz Eylul University (Izmir, Turkey), Erzurum Technical University (Erzurum, Turkey), the Lukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Sustainable Technologies (Radom, Poland), Piotrków University, Institute of Pedagogy, Piotrków-Trybunalski (Poland), the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź (Poland).

The conference is organised within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Sustainability and Internationalization Capacities to Promote Modernization of Newcomers Higher Education in Neighbourhood East Countries” (SIN-NEC), Grant Agreement No. 101129029 co-founded by the EU.
