Developing the Pedagogical Skills of Scientists: Training in Andragogy and Storytelling

On June 23, 2026, within the framework of cooperation between the Center for Information, Analytical and Technical Support for Monitoring of Nuclear Energy Facilities of the NAS of Ukraine and the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the NAES of Ukraine, the training “Pedagogical Mastery in Adult Education: Storytelling as a Tool of Andragogy” was held. The purpose of the event was to increase the professional competence of the Center’s researchers and postgraduate students, in particular, the development of pedagogical and communicative skills in the field of adult education.

The training was conducted by Anna YATSYSHYN, a leading researcher at the Department of Cloud-Oriented Systems and Artificial Intelligence in Education of the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Researcher.

During the classes, modern approaches to adult education, the main principles of andragogy, and the role of pedagogical skills in scientific and educational activities were considered. Special attention was paid to storytelling as an effective communication tool that contributes to the accessible presentation of complex information, increasing audience interest, and forming meaningful interaction with listeners.

Participants learned about the possibilities of using storytelling when preparing lectures, scientific reports, presentations of research results, as well as conducting educational and popular science events. The practical part included a discussion of examples of using narrative approaches in working with an adult audience and the exchange of professional experience.
