The Digital Transformation Department of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine was established in 2021 as part of the Institute for Digitalization of Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine (until 2022, the Institute of Information Technologies and Learning Tools of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine). Its establishment was a response to the current challenges of digital transformation, in particular the need for information and technological support for the activities of scientific institutions, educational institutions and the staff of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.

From the beginning of its establishment until November 2024, the organizer and head of the research activities of the department was Liliya Luparenko, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. Since November 2024, the department has been headed by Liudmyla Kondratova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor.

The research and innovation activities of the department are focused on information and analytical support for the scientific and educational activities of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, as well as on the design and development of digital resources and technologies to support them.

Among the key achievements of the department:

• development of a conceptual model of the Ukrainian Electronic Encyclopedia of Education;
• formation of the conceptual foundations of the creation of the Ukrainian Electronic Encyclopedia of Education;
• creation of a beta version of an information analytical and search reference system.

Within the framework of the applied research “Design and technological support for the functioning of the open Internet platform “Ukrainian Electronic Encyclopedia of Education”” (2021–2023), a model and requirements for the analytical and search reference system site were first substantiated and developed to support the conceptual and terminological apparatus in the fields of education, pedagogy and psychology. According to the results of the research:

• methodological recommendations were created for scientific and scientific and pedagogical workers on using the system and editing encyclopedic articles in the MediaWiki environment;
• the platform http://eduglos.iitta.gov.ua was launched, which became a unique tool for systematizing and updating the terminological apparatus of pedagogy and psychology.

This resource provides open access to scientifically reliable information, promotes the dissemination of scientific research results, the development of interdisciplinary innovations, the formation of cooperation between scientific and educational institutions and individual researchers, as well as increasing the prestige of Ukrainian science in the national and international dimensions.

Since 2024, the department has been conducting a new applied research project “Design of web-based automated information systems for the formation and development of the domestic conceptual and terminological apparatus of pedagogy and psychology”, the purpose of which, among other things, is to develop digital tools to support the formation and updating of the conceptual and terminological apparatus in accordance with the requirements of digital transformation and integration into the European educational space.

The activities of the Digital Transformation Department of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine play an important role in developing a modern digital environment for scientific and educational practices, contributing to the improvement of the information infrastructure of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the introduction of innovative technologies in the field of scientific research and educational activities.
