International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics

The International Conference on Applied Human Factors and Ergonomics (AHFE 2026) was held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 20 to 24 July 2026. It is one of the world’s leading scientific forums dedicated to research in the field of human factors, ergonomics, digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

This year, the conference was attended by 4,115 representatives of the academic community, research institutions and industry from 71 countries around the world (45% – Asia, 28% – Europe, 25% – America, 2% – Australia and Africa). The conference is held under the auspices of 45 international scientific councils, which include 985 leading scientists. Within the framework of the program, 1,235 participants (955 in person and 280 online) presented 1,095 scientific reports and 96 posters in 144 parallel sessions.

Ukraine was represented by only one scientific report, the three leading co-authors of which – Oleksandr BUROV, Svitlana LYTVYNOVA and Olga PINCHUK – represent the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. Such representation is indicative against the background of the growing global interest in the problems of the human factor and ergonomics. It is worth noting that ergonomics as a scientific direction was formed under the influence of the technological challenges of World War II, when it became obvious that the development of technology was ahead of the human ability to interact with it effectively and safely.

On July 22, 2026, the report “Internal-External Parameters’ Balance During Cognitive Performance as Measured Individual Adaptive “Norm” for Learning/Training” was presented at the Training, Education, and Learning Sciences section. According to the results of the review, the article was included in one of the 33 thematic volumes of the conference materials dedicated to the problems of learning, education and learning sciences.

Of the 1,095 scientific papers presented at AHFE 2026, only 38 were directly devoted to education issues (excluding poster presentations). The participants paid the greatest attention to the issue of artificial intelligence, to which 608 papers were devoted, which confirms its leading role in modern interdisciplinary research.

The study, presented by scientists from the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, is devoted to determining the balance of internal and external parameters of human cognitive activity as an individual adaptive norm during learning and training. The results obtained can be used to develop personalized learning, improve adaptive educational technologies and create human-centric digital educational environments.

The results of the study aroused considerable interest in the international scientific community. According to the conference organizers, during the first two days after publication, the materials received 74 views and 57 downloads, which indicates the relevance of the research and interest in the results obtained by scientists from the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.

The full text of the article “Internal-External Parameters’ Balance During Cognitive Performance as Measured Individual Adaptive “Norm” for Learning/Training” is published in the collection of materials of AHFE 2026, which is part of the open access series AHFE Open Access Proceedings (ISSN 2771-0718). The publication is presented in the form of 33 thematic volumes, available in the AHFE digital library for scientists, libraries and educational institutions around the world. The conference materials are planned to be submitted to Scopus for indexing (expected quartile – Q4).

The participation of scientists from the Institute for Digitalisation of Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine in AHFE 2026 contributed to the international presentation of the institution’s research results, the expansion of scientific cooperation, and the popularisation of Ukrainian scientific achievements in the field of cognitive ergonomics, digitalisation of education, and the application of modern digital technologies in education.
